Frank and Joe were making pizzas in one of the hottest pizza joints in all of New York City. The manager, Hank, came in the kitchen. Hank told Frank and Joe to change their recipe. Hank's only experience was cooking frozen pizzas and only when he found them on sale.
Frank and Joe tried to explain why it was not a good idea to change the recipe but Hank proclaimed, "this is my restaurant and I am the manager!"
The restaurant's ratings tanked, business was lost, and the restaurant was going belly up. Frank and Joe started a pizza truck with their old recipe after seeing the failure of management and became very successful.
Final thoughts.
Good leaders do not fear people on their team who are smarter or more skilled. Ever hear of Elon Musk? Elon's companies hire people based on skill and work ethic. Elon does not mind if someone is smarter than him because it builds the team as a whole.
If the team is functioning at a high level there is no need to get in the way. Offer to buy pizza and let the process happen.
Management that has a "my way or the highway" attitude easily advertises they have no clue what they are doing
